limewire is pretty bad for music downloads because the higher the risk for viruses…..bearshare is free and good…ares is also really good…or uturrent …with ares there are a lot of site that make you pay but look around and you can find ares somewhere on the web for free…I use it and it doesnt slow my computer down
This one place called allofmp3.com sells songs for a few cents each, but they had some legal issues and don't have their catalog back up yet (they were proven legal though)

There are many different places to download music, but:
if you want free music, I would recommend using Limewire or frostwire, these two are about the same thing. You can also use Mopheus, but if you get any program similar, I recommend that you have a good anti-spyware prgrams like Ad-Aware because they can have spyware.
If you are willing to pay for the music, I would use Itunes. Their music is safe and virus/spyware-free and comes in the correct format.
