Fashion networks, similar as fashion directories, are also places where you can find many companies related to this industry that include rental studios, model agencies, art schools, manufacturers and retailers for the fashion products.
Fashion communities, the same as any other ones are not created, they evolve. The growth of an online community takes time and effort. Fashion is a business, fashion is a lifestyle. And in fashion, all across the town and around the world, connection is everything. Fashion networks are where work connects with online life and new ideas come alive. Thats a good question, I would also be interested in hearing if there was a social networking site like facebook/myspace more specific to fashion and trends.
If it does, it's only because it will be replaced by something better. That's how I see it. The fact is, it's a huge and successful form of communication. Based on history, forms of communication have become quite popular and the few forms that have died, only died because it was replaced by something else.
The telegraph was replaced by the telephone. Home phones are being replaced by cell phones. The fax machine and postal mail is being replaced by emails. It's hard to imagine something better than networking websites coming along in the near future, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did considering how fast our technology is moving!!
You'd be surprised on how many well known people in the past have claimed that the internet, cars, bikinis, cell phones, telephones and even rock and roll, are just fads and won't take off. There have also been people who have claimed that things will greatly succeed and become quite popular, yet never took off. So, predicting something will last or not last is something I rather not say, because I will likely be very wrong. haha! I sure wouldn't want to be quoted like all the rest.

actually the better known high-end designers (like alexander mcqueen, chanel, etc…) start with a couture collection, which is usually which catches the eyes of magazines and celebs who come knocking on your door wanting to wear your collection. then you have another collection which is more for the everyday person and when you have enough capital, you can start selling that in "your" boutique. the fashion weeks and shows and magazine reviews and number of celebs who wear your stuff is the resume that gets you into known

If you can't come up with a theme and such yourself, you have greater concerns — like being self-directed and self-sufficient.
You need to get your name out in the community. Maybe with flyers, friends and family also try using the radio, and newspapers. Maybe set up a booth at local college with some of your designs. I can't really say I hope this helps, but I don't think there is any getting away from taking some classes.
