Congratulations and welcome to the MAC Family! Or the cult as I call it. You will get brushes, in fact, if you have a good manager, your tool belt should be packed full with every brush available. However, you do not get to take them home and use them for personal projects. You do get the 60% discount to build your own brush collection, which will save you so much money!
At my counter, we color coded all of our brushes or taped them, so they did not get mixed up among the artist, although it happens regularly. We are responsible for washing our own brushes before we leave for the day (please use the MAC brush cleaner and a very gentle baby shampoo, nothing too harsh.) You will learn all this as you go, but again, congratulations! MAC is the best place to learn your skill and open your creative mind!
brilliant!! well explained!

Sure you can use the brush with other make up
I have a great method! I take BABY SHAMPOO and put it on my hand then swirl the brush in my hand untill it apears clean. then i rinse it off making sure not to get any water on the metal part and then I lie them flat to dry. This works great and you can get the travel sized baby shampoo bottles since they're cheaper! (: hope I helped!
I fast wash my brushes every 3 days with water. To give my brushes the full treatment every week, I wash them in baby shampoo with water.
How to clean brushes (You'll need baby shampoo, baby wipes and water)
1. Get the water going and just let it run through 1 brush at a time.
2. Keep squeezing your brushes with your two fingers.
3. Now take out your baby shampoo and scrub the brushes gently, so the bristles do not shed.
4. Keep scrubbing the brushes for about one minute, then rinse until all the shampoo gets out of the brush.
5. Do this with all your brushes at least once a week.
6. Now, take your brushes and just wrap them in baby wipes (OPTIONAL)
