American Ghetto Vacations: Any White Families Interested? In order to promote diversity (or not), I'm thinking of setting up vacations for white families in American ghettos where you will spend the week in an actual ghetto household with a ghetto family. This will allow your family to learn the ghetto culture and see a different way of life. The proposed cost for me setting up all of the accomodations will be $2,000, a little bit more than the cost for your family to go to Disney World or Disneyland, but this will be no normal vacation. I have four destinations planned: Compton (South Central L.A.); Chicago (southside); Detroit (8 mile); and the South Bronx (Fort Apache). I cannot guarantee separate rooms, so you will have to bring sleeping bags. Other than that, I got it covered. Your stay will include one excellent barbeque. Otherwise, meals are not included. You will get to see at least one crime perpetrated as well (maybe even a drive-by). Please let me know if your family has any interest. Thank you. "HOLLA VACATIONS."

This looks great thanks for posting this it really helps
My first choice would be Cancun,Mexico. It is in my opinion THE best vacation spot in Mexico. I have been there twice and would go back in a minute. My second choice would be Cabo St Lucus on the west coast. Its a very nice place. Not as built up as Cancun and not as many beach activities, but very nice. I have been to Acupolco and Puerta Vallarta also but don't care for them at all.
I agree with Shelly. I have taken 2 Celebrity cruises and 3 Oceania cruises and can say that Oceania is about 300x better, although Celebrity is still great. I did not take either to South America but would recommend a cruise down there because of all of the different points that you hit. Also keep in mind that Oceania operates smaller ships with minimal entertainment options that a larger cruise line would offer. Whatever your option, you can't go wrong with either.
Happy Travels!
New Orleans has a very good gay scene. There is an entire section of the French Quarter that is dedicated to the gay scene. Also, the Souther Decadence Festival is a really big party down here. If you get the chance to, you should check it out.
lol, yea it wud be interested living in a black cultured environment for a few weeks. maybe i can get some black gurls too since i wud be the richest in the land =)
ja ja ja ja ja aj aj ja if you are expecting to pay 5-10 dollars for a hotel room you are crazy !!!
Mexico is cheap, but not that cheap, I mean are you serious?
hotel rooms (decent ones) are around 40 and up, anything less than $40 per night I wont recommend is the same as in the US, cheaper not safe.
People is very friendly, food is amazing, and there's a lot of places to go to, now on foot I am not sure, it will be wise to take tours, ask your hotel to recommend you some tours.
* basic recommendations take care of you as you do when you go on vacations to anywhere, the rules are the same.
you will love Mexico, it's wonderful place … I just want to tell you something, it is cheaper to go there than anywhere in the US, but don't expect to pay less than a normal vacation, cause you wont.
Have a safe trip !
I've been to Italy but not greece, but I'm sure it would be nice. I have been to England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales though, loved it. I'm glad to hear tell of an american with and interested to go international. I've been all over Europe, Canada, and the US. I was to go to Japan, just so I can say I went to Asia, minimal interest in China, Japan would be nice because it's a fist world country. since u r going to New Zealand, it's only like a 4 hour flight after that. Just Please don't do London LA, I did that and I nearly died. lol. but LA- Honolulu, Singapore-Australia that's going to be rough this summer, but so will New Zealand if u go because it's right next-door.
There are many reasons, and it would be impossible to find just one root cause.
Systemic political corruption means that any attempt to reform the nation economically is nearly impossible to enact.
Education system that is grossly inadequate.
Middle class that is under attack financially often making it very difficult to keep its head above water.
Control of the vast majority of the nation's wealth by a small number wealthy elite.
Criminal organizations that are often the only authority in many Mexican states.
Soaring birth rates among the poor.
Inept social reform coming from the Catholic Church, often just giving lip service to reform, and sometimes duplicitous in the corruption.
Ironically, it too has its share of economic refugees from Central America.
Regional conflicts and Indigenous people's Autonomy movements siphon off resources to combat or keep in check.
Lack of agrarian reform, much of arable land is still held by a few wealthy landowners preventing rural poor from ever getting ahead.
Brain drain that often takes the nation's brightest young professionals to other countries (not just the USA).
And that is just the tip of the ice berg.
Change for the better would probably take a generation to actually occur.
I am an American living in Mexico. What i have learned from my Mexican friends is this:
1. There are more millionaires per capita in Mexico than in the U. S. MANY of the very wealthy are descendents of the rich Spanish landowners of the past.
2. Poor education..poor schools, and inability of poor families to keep their kids in school.
3. GOV'T CORRUPTION!
4. There IS a growing middle class, but still 10% of the people have 90% of the wealth.
5. In the U. S. most of the Native American population was killed off by Europeans. In Mexico, this did not happen…so there is a large pop. of Indian peoples. They were not landowners in the Spanish feudal system that was in power until the Revolution her in the 1930s. At that time, the gov't broke up the huge Haciendas(lands owned by Spanish landowners_) and the poor were allowed to own land. Change takes a loooong time!
Rural school teachers in many places earn only the equivelent to $200 to $300 dollars a month…that is one of the reasons for the huge riots and strike of teachers in Oaxaca recently.
Well if you decide to come to Peru:
Cuzco is a city in the southern part of the country with an active night live. Machu Picchu are spectacular ruins near Cuzco and the Inca trail is a way to go there. In Cuzo, you wont have any problemas with the language beacuse that city is alwas plenty of foreign tourist and it's easy to find someone who speaks English.
I would also suggest the beaches in the north. Mancora and Punta Sal are the best. Punta Sal is more beautiful and a little more expensive. Usually, young people prefer Mancora because is way more fun and there are many parties.
The rainforest is algo a beautiful place. There are many cities there. I think the best is Tarapoto.
Lima, the capital city has also some excellent palces to have fun. Aura, Saquara and Gotica are some of the most exclusives night club there (please avoid the ones in northern Lima!). If you come in summer you should also visit the beaches in southern Lima (Asia).
