to say the truth not really everyone wants to hear peeps on record labels all of the time some of us want to hear some of the unsigned bands with there own original sound yes its repetitive but most more famous bands and artists are too example: JUST ABOUT ALL RAP MUSIC
Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) is better I think
Indie music is shit. Sung by talentless musicians with repetitive poor melodies, stupid pretentious monotonous working class accents and no soul whatsoever. Soon this awful ‘rock’ music will be gone with the new decade and hopefully some real musicians with soul will appear again like before the 2000s
because it sounds good, makes me feel good and has true meaning and emotion behind it. “Indie” has absolutely NOTHING to do with how many people listen to it. You make a good point, but don’t be so shallow about the subject
While I completely agree with you (and love brandnew and bright eyes), Y!A isn't a place for rants. Sorry.
Enjoy indie music : )
Then come to youtube . com / machiinate for some of the indie best mixes to come !!
Los Angeles, New York and Chicago in the U.S.
I would say that many indie bands are after thelate teen and 20 something demo. A little beyond the MTV years. The more pop you go the younger you go. As people get a little older (at least ones that would get into indie rock) they start to explore things more. Dig a little deeper.
Although now-a-days with the information age being what it is and the changes it has had on distribution what is indie rock anyways?
Seattle is a very nice place to live. I would recommend living in an "eastside" suburb. Bellevue, Redmond, Issaquah, Kirkland, and Bothell are all nice areas. I wouldn't live in South Seattle, Redmond, or up in Lynnwood. Bellevue is nice, it's a 10 minute drive to downtown, and is a VERY nice city, with great schools and a low crime rate. The job market isn't the greatest, like most parts of the country, but being in the IT field, you and your husband should have the upper hand and not have too much trouble finding work. There is still a great indie music scene, and lots of activities for families as well.
Best of luck
ralppi1 you are so fuckin stupid. and all other people that say that indie means unsigned bands and shit. indie is a rock genre you stupid fucks! search for indie rock and you’ll see. google is your friend douchebags
Seek people out in the industry and invite them to watch you perform.
I'm sure major record labels throw thousand of demo CD's in the bin everyday. They probably don't get time to listen to them all so at the end of the day whatever doesn't get listened to just goes into the bin before tomorrows batch of demos arrive.
If you can perform and people like your performance then a manager in the industry will see and hear marketability. I'd suggest making a few more songs and getting some fiends to pick their favourites so you cab pick the best ones for your gig. You might also get payed for your performances.
Since I pursued a music career before becoming a stock trader, I can give you one good tip. Never buy your equipment first hand. There are so many people selling new or near new equipment second hand for less than half the price. Ebay is a good start.
Indie music was originally music that was produced independently. Now, however, times have changed and it commonly refers to music that has a similar sound to those few bands that were “indie” (as the original meaning suggests). Also, Arctic Monkeys and Bloc Party are both bands that are borderline indie. And finally, what difference does it make? I like music, and a lot of it tends to be indie. But I don’t like it just cause it’s cool. I don’t ONLY like indie, and, unlike you, I like music
The website I go to is http://www.metacritic.com/music/ There you not only get to see multiple magazine/sources reviews of the music, but there is also individuals reviews.
What the site does is take the average of all of the reviews known out there from sources that are profesional.
Another thing I love about the site is that it has a page of up-coming albums, go as far into the future as half a year at times. If a band that is legendary comes out with a new album when they haven't come out with an album in a while, there'll be a link with more details on the future release.
Metacritic is your best source for new music.
haha

First, are u a japanese or a permanent resident?
basically, if you have a good status in Japan..starting a label is same way as starting an LLC type of company..Just visit an accountant or lawyer near your ward and you will be fine…am also planning to release a CD without depending of recording companies etc..
Let me know if you have found stuffs we could talk later
