5 Reasons Why the Ipod Has Overtaken the Digital Music Player Market

When Steve Jobs returned to Apple from Pixar, he returned with a mission. He had already revolutionized computers, now he wanted to revolutionize something bigger, something which is not restricted to markets and numbers, something which has more to do with feelings than with business numbers. He launched iPod.

And wasn’t he right? Most people still thank him for returning to Apple and giving them the best gadget they could have, the iPod. At first people didn’t buy the idea of storing over 1 GB of songs on a sleek gadget. When even bulky CD players couldn’t do it, how can the iPod do it? But when people got hold of the product, they were amazed by the capabilities of this trendy and the most compact gadget. Soon the Digital music player market was revolutionized.

Here are five reasons why the iPod has not only revolutionized the Digital Music Player Market but overtaken it by far.

1. Lot of power in your pocket: Using and iPod frees the user from carrying bulky CD players, which are difficult to handle and also the storage capacity of such CD players is not much. So the user doesn’t have to change the CDs again and again. The music on the iPod can be downloaded from the internet so buying of CDs also becomes a redundant activity. iPod comes with free music software which allows the access to a plethora of music collection on line, which keeps on changing continuously.

2. More battery life: Since the iPod has Li ion batteries; they can be used for a longer period of time at a stretch, which is up to 16-24 hours. So once can listen to the music through out the journey. It can be charged very easily, iPod comes with a firewire cable which can be connected to any USB slot of any computer and within 4-5 hours the iPod gets charged again and ready for another 24 hour music play.

3. More song storage: The iPod has a storage capacity which ranges from 1 GB to 160GB. That means a lot of storage space. Most people don’t even have more than 4GB songs on their hard drive. So it is like carrying your entire music library in your pocket. Even if you don’t have enough songs on your hard drive then they can be easily purchased at a minimal cost online.

4. iPod fits the pocket: iPod is very economical and with the number of songs it can store, the cost per song for an iPod is very less as compared to other digital music players available in the market.

5. Better performer: The sound quality of the iPod is much better than its peers, it sounds balanced and soothing to the ear. It also supports a various music formats like MP3, AAC (including protected files), Audible, WAV, AIFF, and Apple Lossless. The files which are not supported can easily be converted to a format which is supported.

So now you know why the iPod is the leader in the market, and with the level of innovation at Apple, one can expect the iPod to get better with time.

Help answer the question about best music player

How do I best add a music player to a website?
I would like to add a flash-based mp3 player to a website (probably the Wimpy player), but I have a dilema. In order to prevent the player from restarting the playlist each time a new page is viewed I would need to use a frameset or an iframe. I would like to avoid using either of these solutions so that the pages can be properly indexed and linked to via Google. I could redirect all links to specific pages back to index.php, but that is not ideal either. Does anyone know of another way to keep the music going uninterupted?
