The public transportation is fantastic in Vancouver, so look into taking the bus to get around.

Bring a map or postcard of where you're from to show people you meet and talk with.

The anthropology museum at the University of British Columbia is not to be missed.

Don't bother taking 4 kids to the Biltimore, they would be bored stupid. It is a beautiful place for quiet getaway for just the 2 of you but there is nothing for kids to do. If you normally go to Maggie Valley, just cross the Smokies into TN and take to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Its less than an hour from Cherokee and there are tons of things for all of you to do. Gatlinburg has the Riply's Aquarium that is really nice and places to play indoor mini golf or laser tag among many other things. Pigeon Forge has Dollywood amusement park, go-cart tracks and lots of family oriented activities. Just search yahoo for Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge and you find plenty of info. Have fun.

I just got back from Rome.

I hate to waste time wait in line so I did a tour of the Collosuem with one of the tour operators that gathers people outside of the Colloseum, we were there at 10:30am and cost approximately 24 Euros per person. This is great - we skipped a hour long line and got right in, plus the guide had a microphone and we were all issued with walkie-talkies so that we were able to wander a bit away from the group to take pictures, etc.

At the end of this tour, the guide offered two additional tours for free - one of the Roman Forum and one of Palpatine Hill. We did the Roman Forum one. He also told us about their tour of the Vatican Museums and St. Peters Basicilca. We took this tour also, it met a 9:15 outside of the Metro Station Ottaviano. Again we skipped a 4-5 hour line, we got the walkie talkies. This tour was approximately 40 Euros per person, but highly worth it to not wait in the line that wrapped around Vatican City.

As for getting around the city, get the Visitors Pass - this one ticket includes transportation on the Metro, Buses, and trams and a 3 day pass is 11 Euros. These can be bought from the any metro ticket machine - and no worries, they have an English option on the screen.

Right now there is an outdoor art exhibit of people statues made of garbage(!), it's really interesting and is in the Piazza del Popolo.

Don't worry about packing an umbrella. In the main tourist areas (pretty much the whole city) should it start raining, guys will start walking around selling umbrellas. Don't pay more than 5 Euros.

Rome is a city best explored by wandering, get lost and you'll find amazing things. Enjoy!!

Hi! You shouldn't have a problem with staying there. I answered a question for a homosexual couple wanting to go to Cancún and I suggest them the Club Med, but Temptations would be fine as well. You will be fine...I don't think they can discriminate your way of life. I remember doing research on the question from the other couple and I remember coming across a site (I can't find it now) of a homosexual weekend event that was held at Tempatations, so like I mentioned you will be fine. I gave you a link to read below that I just came across regarding your question and thought maybe you would find it interesting to read. It was a previous question from yahoo answers. I really don't think you have any worries of people thinking anything. My best friend and myself go to Cancún all the time (we are heterosexual), but nobody looks at us thinking...Oh they might be homosexual. It's just two buddies partying and getting drunk in Cancún and it will be the same for you. As long as you don't have any public displays of affection I don't think anybody will even know. If they do who cares you are just like anybody else enjoying beautiful Cancún. You will be fine and safe...no worries. Best of luck to you and enjoy your vacation...Cancún is a blast!!!

If you're coming here in a couple of months, that means you'll be here during the summer. Warning: it's going to be hot! But that's actually good for beach lovers. So if you like beaches, then that will be a perfect time for you to come here. If you want a party place, then Boracay is the way to go. But, if you want peace and quiet and you want a getaway, then Palawan is the way to go.

But before you go to the beaches, I guess you should stay a bit in Metro Manila. Bring comfortable clothes since it's going to be hot. Be prepared for the traffic, which peaks during rush hour (7-9AM and 5-7PM). Try to avoid the MRT during rush hours as well since it's jampacked with people. For shopping you definitely have to go to Greenhills, and the usual malls. For night partying, you have to check out Greenbelt in Makati.

Aside from the beaches and the Metro, other places worth going to are the following:
Tagaytay - around 2 hours away from Metro Manila by land, to the south, a bit cooler, has good restaurants with beautiful views
Batangas - around 3 hours away from Metro Manila by land, There are a couple of good beaches at Laiya, Batangas that you may want to check out, such as La Luz and Balai.
Baguio - around 6 hours away from Metro Manila, to the north. Really cool here because it's elevated.
Cebu - around 1 1/2 hours away from Metro Manila by plane; home to the Sto. Nino, Magellan's cross, with good beaches and resorts too
Davao - around 2 hours away from Metro Manila by plane; biggest city in the Philippines in terms of land area, also with good resorts such as Pearl Farm
Bohol - around 1 1/2 hours away from Metro Manila by plane; home to Chocolate Hills and the tarsiers

What are you into? The Philippines has good diving spots and golf courses. So if you're into those, then bring your stuff.

For security, be careful when you go to crowded places. Make sure you hug your bag when you walk in malls, and other public places.
