When did formal hats go out of fashion?I was looking at photographs of New York in the 1940s-1950s, and EVERY man is wearing a hat, when did this practice go out of fashion, when was the last time when you ought not to be seen without your hat?

My Grandmaman was a milliner during this time in Montreal. She owned her own hat shop and was also a lead designer in a hat factory in Montreal. Thank you for posting this.. Eaton’s. I really would not be surprised if she designed some of these. I wish I owned at least one of her hats. My Aunt has a couple of them and my mom has some felt form doll hats she made. Unfortunately my aunts, uncles and parents didn’t see value in all of her tools and hats when she passed and auctioned everything off.

and since hats aren't allowed in school, and since the majority of people are in school or college, they have barely any purpose to purchase a hat because they cannot wear it the majority of the time.
They come with stickers already on them.. so they're either kept on, or thats where it came from.
Kennedy did it. He didn't ordinarily wear a hat. He didn't look good in one and going without one made him look ready for action, ready to jump into anything. People loved the active youthful image he had, and men just stopped wearing hats.
