You Are The Author of Your Story
Coffee With Cassandra
Fresh brewed motivation to start your week off right
Welcome to Coffee With Cassandra, a new column here at City Chick Mag. A city chick knows that fabulousity is not just a lifestyle. It’s an extension of who we are. And if we want to achieve fabulousity at its fullest, we’ve got to put in the work to raise the quality of our thoughts, choices and habits. This is where I come in.
Each week, I’ll offer you a slice of wisdom to help you take steps towards your success and break through the barriers in your life. Whether you want to put your career on the fast track, develop million dollar habits, build better relationships, think and act more positively or get real about your stress, mess and drama, through this column I will serve as your online empowerment coach encouraging you to own your power and live your best life. This week I’m asking you to think about what it is you really want out of life so that you can begin to make it happen. Here goes:
You Are The Author of Your Story
No matter what other people have said or done to you, no matter how many roadblocks lie ahead of you and no matter what circumstances life sends your way, you have the power to change your life. Why? Because you are the author of your story.
In my seminars and workshops, I find myself constantly coaching men and women on how to own their power and take charge of their scripts. It’s never too late to try something new or go in a different direction all together.
The key to getting from where you are now to where you want to be is taking 100% responsibility for the direction and quality of your life. If you want your life to go in a different direction, then it’s up to you to take yourself there. That means starting where you are, working with what you’ve got and choosing to take some kind of action to get your life moving in the direction that you want it to go in.
If you are serious about your success, then it’s important to develop the mindset that you have the power to take a different route, try a new thing, make your life better, get it right this time and step away from people and situations that bring you down and hinder your growth. Becoming the author of your story is about acknowledging that you do have power – that you’re smart, capable, competent and most of all, you deserve to live the kind of life that you can feel good about.
As the author of your story, you decide whether your life will unfold like a horror story, a fictitious tale, a suspense novel, a comedy, tragedy or an action-adventure. You decide which chapters to write, which ones to revise and which ones to completely close out. You decide who the main characters are and what role they will play in your life. The most empowering part of it all is, if you do not like the way your story is playing out, you can always make a few revisions, come out with a new edition or write an entirely different book. Today, become the author of your story and see how wonderfully your life unfolds.
Over the next few days think about one, small thing that you can do to move your story in the direction that you want it to go in. Remember…You hold the pen the writes the chapters of your life. Finish this sentence: My name is…… and as of today the story of my life is….
