500+ Summer Events in Downtown New York City The 2008 River to River Festival is a summer celebration featuring hundreds of free music, dance and cultural programs in Lower Manhattan. Kicking of on May 28th, the 2008 River to River Festival hosts daily events all summer long at downtown venues including South Street Seaport, the Battery Park Esplanade, Castle Clinton, and the World Financial Center. Highlights of the 2008 festival will include the Bang on a Can Marathon (May 31), Sonic Youth (July 4), The Music of Johnny Cash (July 26), Dirty Projectors (August 13), Latin Giants of Jazz (September 3), and many more events and performances.
